It is indeed too strainous to get a good bargain for Destination Wedding in the beaches. And India offers a few good destination options with Goa being the top prominent and expensive one. We took this as fact and decided to explore opportunities for Destination wedding in Puri, thinking that this destination would cost less (combining hotel stay, vendor services etc) as compared to Goa and could add to wedding destination list.

Nevertheless, Set on the shore of Bay of Bengal, Puri is a popular and pious city in Odhisa in Eastern India. The city is known for the world famous Jagannath Temple which is visited by thousands of devotees each day. Many Indians believe to tie nuptial knots in this city as it is considered sacred and divine. The beaches of Puri are natural wonders, fine white sands; roars of breakers rolling in from the Bay of Bengal will arouse your senses. The charm of the sea, warmth of the atmosphere and ample mouthwatering sea food makes Destination Wedding in Puri a hit!

Lets assume you are a group of 70 to 100 people looking out to celebrate a 2 Night and 3 day Destination Wedding in Puri. You may want to plan the stay at a good 5*/4* Property closer to the beach and major wedding festivities like Mehendi/Sangeet/Ceremony/ Reception etc to be planned at the same location, you may not have the idea of the possible options for stay and venues, how would the decoration work, are there any good suppliers in Puri, how about the photo & video… & so on, this is a typical requirement.

Okay, so here’s the itinerary and costs – Destination Wedding in Puri.

1) Accommodation/ Stay

This is one of the major element that eat up almost 50% of your wedding budget, particularly when you are paying for everyone’s stay, if not you may pay for the stay of your close relatives & friends.

Accommodation Budget

5* Beach Properties (which are limited in number) with all facilities would be at least INR 15K to 30K + Taxes, which could possibly include breakfast. (Taxes could be anywhere between 18-28%)

3* or 4* Beach Properties rooms would be atleast INR 7000 -12000 + Taxes,

Anything below this would be very basic

The above rates are valid from OCT-MARCH, during the other months you may avail a discount of 15-20% on room tariffs.

The Hotels allow an extra adult or 2 kids below 12 years of age in the same room & charge for it.

So the Calculation is straight forward

Number of Rooms X Number of Nights X Budget = Cost of Stay (Approx)

2) Venue, Food & Beverage

Deciding and hiring the venue and the cost of food and beverage form the second most important component. (if planning a destination wedding in Puri)

However, a Beach property would have the facilities like sea facing lawns, A/C banquet, pool area etc to host the wedding events. Also these venues could be used free of charge if hiring the whole property for stay on priority. If you are opting for a few rooms only then the hotels may charge a venue rental between INR 50K to 250K per venue to host an event.

Food & Beverage

Event menus are different from regular buffet menu.

So the individual costs of meals are as follows:

For a 5* property…

Lunch/Dinner: INR 3000 to 4000 + tax per person per meal

For a 4*/3* Property…

Lunch/Dinner: INR 1500 to 2500 + tax per person per meal

Liquor

A beach property (destination wedding in Puri) charges as per actual or bottle rates of IMFL and Foreign Liquor. As far as Drinks (beverages like Water, Soft Drinks, Juices, Liquor, Wine, Mixers etc) are concerned, generally couples opt to pay as per actual consumption. Couples could bring their own liquor @INR 500 per bottle corkage.

(Liquor is cheap in Goa and 3* beach properties usually allow couples to bring their own liquor by paying a corkage amount)

3)The venue setup & decoration

This typically includes setting up the venue, Mandap, floral decoration and arrangements, Welcome entrances, Stages & backdrops, illumination & ambiance lighting, Table decoration, Props, Table linens & runners, dressed chairs with tie back and most of stuff related to it.

INR 5-7Lacs is a mandatory cost for standard decor (any elaborate decor would charge you extra) for 3-4 events including the wedding day decor. This is a standard package.

4) Music, DJ & Entertainment

You may choose from the folk music and dance for the entertainment of the guests which could be a unique refreshment and these start at a range of 25000 for folk dance and music show.

Other than that you if wish to hire varieties of DJ and performing artists like sufi singers, ghazal singers , belly dancers etc for entertaining your guests then that could be extra expense as these artists could not be sourced locally and have to be flown from other parts of India and you may have to bear their travel costs too.

5) Photography & Videography

To give you an idea about the cost on an average, candid photography and videography may cost from INR 80000 to 100000 per day. These are the standard rates if a photographer is chosen locally or from a nearby metro city say Bhubaneswar or Kolkata. Also the transportation + food + stay expenses of the photographer and its team have to be taken care by the bridal party.

6) Transportation within Puri

Transportation to Puri: Approx 60 km from Bhubaneswar Airport with intermittent flights connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai & Chennai. It is an overnight journey by train from Sealdah/Howrah Junction near Kolkata to Puri station.

Transportation within Puri includes travel from Airport/Station to Hotel and Back. Planning a small outing for few guests within the destination.

Individual AC Cars costs around INR 2000 per day on an average including 80kms max or 8hours of running with 5 guests max. You can hire AC coaches on the same basis at INR 4000 – 8000 per day with 12 guests max.

7) More Costs

There are several elements which would be present as per your preference and budget. Be it Wedding Procession (Baraat). Also the Top priority element for the bride… Vanity Artiste, Mehendi Artiste etc.

Located in the district of Nainital, Jim Corbett National Park is a perfect place for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. It is a wonderful place in India considered as a hub of excitement and thrill. Spread over an area of 520 square kilometers, the park is a complete package for wildlife buffs.

The Jim Corbett National Park is situated at an approximate distance of 260 Kms from the National Capital Delhi. The small town near Corbett is Ramnagar which forms the headquarters of CTR. The city is well connected by road or rail with major cities of India like Moradabad, Nainital, Bareilly and Delhi.

Best Travelled by Road: The small city Ramnagar has a very good road network that connects the different cities of India. Uttarakhand state government buses ply at a short interval of time from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldwani that reaches directly Ramnagar. Corbett is only 15 Kms from Ramnagar town. The surface drive from Delhi to Corbett takes approximate five and half hours.

Delhi-Gajrola-Moradabad-Kashipur-Ramnagar: (240 km)
Bareilly-Kichha-Haldwani-Ramnagar: (160 km)

Best Time for Weddings: November to March

The park is kept closed as the monsoon season approaches. The main reason for closure of the park during rest of the year is that the roads inside the park get washed away due to rain. The repair work starts after the monsoon and ends only by November till the roads are back in motorable condition.

D) Tips

Start planning for a Destination Wedding in Jim Corbett at least 4-6 Months ahead of time.
The Jungle Resorts of Dhikuli & Marchula areas are best suited for a tropical jungle destination wedding
Choose a resort proximate to the Ramganga or Kosi river for a better experience.
Most resorts have not more than 50 rooms, it will be likely to club two resorts together if you are a group above 200 guests.
Ask your wedding planner for natural décor elements.
Ask your wedding planner to organize National Park safari and adventure activities for your guests during non-ceremonial hours.

Who hasn’t heard of the great Sariska Palace? Well…that defines how royal a destination wedding can get!

But, when we are speaking about tropical jungle destination wedding, let’s define Sariska on those tracks…

The Sariska National Park snuggled in the Aravali Hills and lying in the district of Alwar, Sariska is a very famous tourist destination located in the India state of Rajasthan. The park encompasses a sprawling area of 800 square kilometers and is the abode of a range of diverse flora, fauna and avifauna. The region is mainly famous for the Sariska Tiger Reserve. This is a great place for wildlife and adventure lovers.

B) Wedding Concept

Royalty, Ethnicity & Adventure – Defines a Destination Wedding in Sariska. If you want to keep it royal, you can go for palace wedding at the great Sariska Palace, on the other hand you can celebrate a tropical jungle destination wedding in Sariska with a twist.

Wedding Décor: May choose the red carpet, royal chandeliers, red drapes and royal mandap or may go for wildflower and bird cage décor and flambeaus or oil lanterns to light up the surroundings.

Location– This sanctuary is situated in the district of Alwar in Rajasthan and lies about 110 km from Jaipur.

Best Travelled by Road: Sariska wildlife sanctuary is situated off the Delhi-Alwar-Jaipur Road.Alwar is 36 kms, Delhi is 200 kms, Jaipur is 101 kms from Sariska.Rajasthan Roadways run very comfortable deluxe buses from Jaipur. Regular services link Alwar with key destinations in and not far off Rajasthan and Delhi. The roads are very good, and it takes around 3-4 hrs from Jaipur.Tourist can also hire taxis to travel by road to Sariska.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Alwar which is 37 Kms from Sariska.

Best time for Weddings: October to March.

D) Tips

Start planning for a Destination Wedding in Sariska atleast 6 months ahead of the Wedding Date.
Apart from the varied array of flora and fauna, there are also other attractions in the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary consisting of- the Kankwari Fort, Ancient Shiva Temples & the Great Sariska Palace.
Ask your wedding planner to arrange for Jeep safaris & Elephant rides I the reserve for guests during non-ceremonial hours.
Plan adventure activities during Pre-Wedding functions to add more fun to the festivities.

Some of the main transport options around the reserve are jeeps safaris and elephant rides. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the Tiger Reserve, and this is one point to note while taking up a trip to Sariska.

We are offering all Meals on Buffet. This includes Breakfast+ Lunch+ Dinner+ Hi Tea/Snacks. Gala Dinner/Brunch are only for the Wedding Day.This package includes Vegetarian+ Non Veg Meals Basic Menu (Charges are extra for Elaborate Menu on Meals/Snacks)

Wedding Destinations in Haryana and Neemrana

After getting a few queries and missing out few clients to be…I was compelled to do a research and write this post. When expectations for Udaipur, Jaipur & Goa were high, I was amazed to get queries over mails and phone calls for wedding destinations in Haryana. Most of those queries were from New Delhi/NCR. People inquired about Picturesque Destinations, Heritages & more…and I could do little to help them find suitable Wedding Destinations in Haryana.

Well never thought so deeply about this that Haryana could be one amongst weddings destinations in India. But who would not want an inquiry to turn up as a client!  So after a humble research I had listed 3 Destinations in Haryana that can do justice to Destination Weddings and obviously this post is for all those who are looking out to inquire for wedding Destinations in Haryana.

1) Manesar

Even After visiting the popular Damdama Lake, I never thought of Manesar being a Wedding Destination. But my research on this location caught the fact that Manesar can actually prove as a Wedding Destination and with time it will grow any may become one of the popular Wedding Destinations of India.

a) Popular Culture

About a 2 hour journey from the National Capital, Manesar is a fast developing industrial town situated in Gurgaon district of Haryana. Located near the city of Gurgaon, Manesar enjoys heavy influx of tourists all round the year. Manesar is located on NH 8 and it is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc. Situated on the lower Aravalli Ranges, Manesar lies on a hilltop. Besides the idyllic beauty of the Aravalli Ranges, Manesar has many places of tourist interest

b) Destination Weddings

The culture of Destination Weddings in Manesar is still developing. However the town offers beautiful Heritage Castles and 5* Resorts which can host both Traditional & Contemporary style weddings. Accomodation, F&B, Décor, Logistics etc can be taken care by the properties hired by the host. For compact budgeting and best results, it is advised to hire a professional wedding planner. The best time to plan a Destination Wedding is Manesar is between October- March.

c) Wedding Budget.

If you are looking out for a lavish wedding in a Heritage Castle or a 5* Resort with Accomodation+ F&B+ Décor+ Logistics for around 100 People for 2 days, you might have an average Wedding Budget of RS 40L*

2) Morni Hills

The only hill station in Haryana. Heard about it a while ago from a friend, never thought it could be amongst the wedding destinations in India. But as couples and their families want to explore unique destinations to make the wedding celebration a memorable one. Morni Hills could be an option as adventurous wedding destinations in Haryana.

a) Popular Culture

Morni is a village and tourist attraction in the Morni Hills at the height of 1267 meters. It is known for its Himalayan views, flora, and lakes.The name of Morni is believed to derive from a queen who once ruled the area. The village of Morni lies on the mountainside and among the spurs of the hills lay two lakes. Morni Hills are a major tourist attraction during the summer & winter months.

b) Destination Weddings

A 4 hour journey from Delhi/NCR, a scenic getaway with picturesque resorts which offer all facilities to host a complete unique wedding celebration. Destination Weddings in Morni hills are still a novice, it is advised to hire a professional wedding planner for compact budgeting and unique festivities.

c) Wedding Budget

If you are looking to celebrate in a 4*/ 5* with around 100 people for 2 Day function with Accommodation+ F&B+ Décor+ Logistics, you might have an average budget of RS 30L.

3) Karnal

Many times I had passed by the roads of this city, never a thought crossed my mind of imagining Karnal as a Wedding Destination in Haryana. My research took me to a world in this city which I never thought was existing. And now I know why I am suggesting this as a Wedding Destination.

a) Popular Culture

Karnal, is one of the oldest districts of Haryana. The city has gained importance since Mahabharata era. The city is known as a walled town. Some of the dignitaries have their association with the city of Karnal. Not to forget ,Late Dr. Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-American scientist and NASA astronaut was born in a Punjabi Hindu family at Model Town, Karnal.

b) Destination Weddings

About 2 hour journey from the national capital, Karnal houses beautiful heritage castles which are now transformed into luxury hotels and 5* Resorts with dignified picturesque backdrops. Karnal is developing as a popular destination for Royal weddings given to its importance by the NRI’s and the affluent from Delhi/NCR who are flocking with their families to celebrate a dignified wedding in the Heritage Castles. A grand wedding can be celebrated in these castles which can match up to the weddings celebrated in Udaipur & Jaipur in Rajasthan.

•Couples looking out to host a Royal wedding within proximity to Delhi/NCR can choose from the Heritage castles of these towns.
•It is advised to hire a professional wedding planner for compact budgeting and proper planning of the festivities.
